China News Service, Chengdu, May 28 -- Wu Bangguo, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, continued his inspection in the Sichuan earthquake-stricken areas today, providing guidance on earthquake relief efforts.

Dongfang Electric Corporation is China's largest power equipment manufacturing and power station engineering contracting enterprise. Wu Bangguo has visited here many times and devoted a lot of effort to the development of this key state-owned enterprise. This morning, Wu Bangguo made a special trip to the Hanwang Base of Dongfang Turbine Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Dongfang Electric Corporation, to cordially greet the cadres, workers, and their families there, and to learn about the damage to the enterprise.

Wu Bangguo said that the enterprise had suffered significant losses in the earthquake and was facing unprecedented difficulties. However, all the cadres and workers of the factory immediately sprang into action to save themselves, which embodied the spirit of the Dongfang Turbine Co., Ltd. people who are not afraid of difficulties and are tenacious in their struggle.

Subsequently, Wu Bangguo rushed to the tent wards of the First People's Hospital in Deyang City to comfort the injured. In the ward, Wu Bangguo met a seven-year-old girl who had a strong desire to become a dancer but suffered a leg fracture in the earthquake. Wu Bangguo said to her, "You must take good care of your injury. You will definitely become an excellent dancer when you grow up." The little girl presented Wu Bangguo with her newly drawn Olympic Fuwa and happily sang a children's song.

This afternoon, Wu Bangguo drove to Pingtong Town in Pingwu County to inspect the disaster situation. Ninety percent of the houses in Pingtong Town were destroyed in the earthquake. Township cadres rushed to the front line at the first opportunity, leading the masses to rescue people from the ruins with all their strength, thereby minimizing the number of casualties. Wu Bangguo expressed his gratitude to them. Subsequently, Wu Bangguo walked among the army officers and soldiers, militia reservists, and local epidemic prevention personnel who were cleaning up the ruins and conducting sanitation and epidemic prevention work to visit them.

In the afternoon, Wu Bangguo also visited the Changhong Training Center in Mianyang City and met with the teachers and students of Beichuan Middle School who had resumed classes there.

On the afternoon of May 26th, Wu Bangguo made a special trip to the Sichuan earthquake disaster area to express his condolences to the cadres and the masses, visit the rescue personnel, and guide the earthquake relief work.

On the afternoon of the 26th, Wu Bangguo visited the Chengdu Military Region General Hospital to cordially greet the injured, students, and rescue workers who were receiving treatment there, and to see the medical workers who were fighting on the front line of saving lives and healing the wounded. Subsequently, Wu Bangguo and his entourage arrived at Chengdu East Railway Station to express their condolences to the volunteers who were busy transporting disaster relief supplies.

After inspecting the disaster situation in Yingxiu Town, Wenchuan County on the morning of the 27th, Wu Bangguo immediately went to Zipingpu Reservoir to learn about the situation. In the afternoon of the 27th, Wu Bangguo visited the affected people at the Happy Home resettlement site in Dujiangyan City and other places.
